Best way to survive a cross-country flight.?

I will likely be flying from Arizona to Massachusetts in a few weeks and whether it's a nonstop (or maybe especially if it is) flight or one with a layover, it's going to try my sanity because the more I fly, the more afraid of flying I become. I also have been known to get motion sick in a variety of modes of transportation. Should I take Dramamine and have my stomach be settled but be panicking from fear, or should I take a chance on skipping the Dramamine and instead have a couple of drinks so that I might relax? Usually I just take the Dramamine and white-knuckle it until landing. Thanks!
